The US Army M-51 Field Pants are based on irregular pants with no knee pleats.
Suspender buttons and waist tape have been eliminated, and the waist design has been simplified to make it easier to wear.
The thighs and knees have been wider than the original, creating a voluminous, wide tapered silhouette.

[Outer fabric]
The outer fabric uses 14 count single yarn for the warp and 12 count single yarn for the weft, with a herringbone pattern pitch that is neither too wide nor too narrow.
