The brushed back fabric used is knitted on a rare knitting machine, of which there are only a few in Japan.
Only about 10m can be knitted per day, and the slow knitting process puts less stress on the fabric, resulting in a knit that is close to hand-knitted.
Like vintage sweatshirts, the fabric becomes firm yet soft with repeated washing.
