These are two-tuck trousers that have been continued since the 26 S/S season.
They are designed with reference to 60s US trousers.
They are based on the concept of a 50-inch pair of trousers being forcibly resized by its original owner,
resulting in unique gathers and repositioned parts
that differ significantly from regular trousers, and this sense of incongruity has been elevated into a design.
Taking advantage of the side seams being in an unusual position (shifted significantly to the back),
the side pockets are placed in an easy-to-use position and incorporated into the tucks.

The material is a 100% worsted wool plain weave with a special "nagashi-zome" (poured dyeing) treatment,
created originally using a unique dyeing method.
The dye is slowly poured in by artisans, and the timing of pouring
and the amount create irregular patterns.
While nagashi-zome is usually monochrome, this piece uses four colors of dye to create a complex blend like flowing water,
adjusted to achieve a gradient finish.
The sewing is done in a professional dressmaking factory by skilled sewers, with a marbelt specification.
