For the dyeing, first, craftsmen carefully and repeatedly dyed and washed the fabric using highly pure indigo from India, which boasts a long tradition and history, to achieve a deep, ultra-dark indigo blue.
Then, dark mud dye from the Kyushu region, which is rich in iron, was also applied, resulting in a very rich and deep "mud indigo dye."
This is a very elaborate natural dye, carefully and repeatedly dyed and washed by craftsmen.
